Redwood Wine Racks
By far the most popular wood wine rack species to use when building custom wine racks and wine cellars are Redwood, Pine and Mahogany. While each wood species is unique in its own way, Redwood is perhaps the most popular, and it's definitely one of our favorites! And why not? It's such a beautiful wood species. Redwood has qualities not found in other woods. Its performance characteristics include resistance to shrinking, warping, and checking in addition to durability. Redwoods come in two choices - Premium Redwood and All Heart Redwood. From small home wine racks, to large commercial wine racking systems and grand wine cellars, we have fallen in love with Premium and All Heart Redwood wine racks for their durability and ageless beauty, and the fact that they're environmentally friendly! What is Premium and All Heart Redwood anyway? All-Heart Redwood comes from the center of the mighty Redwood tree. It is characterized by a deep, rich reddish brown color and a remarkable grain. Even without a finish, All Heart has natural beauty, and its appearance improves over time. Because it is naturally resistant to rot and mildew, it has been the wood of choice for fine wine cellars for over a century now. Premium Redwood, on the other hand, has a variety of colors: white to pink to dark purple swirled and streaked together. These color variations add character to the wine cellar, not to mention beautiful without the need for a finish and is non-aromatic. It functions admirably in climatically controlled wine cellars, and because it contains natural wood preservatives, it will withstand the humid conditions within your wine storage room. It is also the least expensive of the two redwood species.
